I haven't resolved my issue so I don't have any advice other than don't do business with Massanutten Resort.
It is a complete slap in the face that anyone can book a room at Massanutten online for significantly less than what we are forced to pay in annual assessments. During the sales pitch, they conveniently failed to disclose these escalating costs and promised a sound investment, but now management refuses to let us out and hides behind dismissive form letters.
They ignore every plea for help and treat loyal customers with total disregard while trapping families in a perpetual cycle of debt. Do not trust this company as they lack any sense of integrity or consumer fairness.MaMM

Using this timeshare is like a second job; booking is nearly impossible even a year in advance, and the annual fees continue to skyrocket alongside hidden daily resort fees. Sales reps looked us in the eye and sold us a "deal" that turned out to be a deceptive financial trap, promising us ease of use and property exchanges that simply do not exist in reality.
The most disgusting part of this experience is that Great Eastern Resorts has now officially ceased all communication with us. We received a final denial letter stating they would no longer respond to our inquiries, effectively locking us into an unsustainable contract while their managers refuse to return our calls. Their only "suggestion" was for us to sell the unit ourselves, which is a joke considering these same units are listed on eBay for $1.
They are more than happy to take our money, but they refuse to discuss a fair exit strategy or even accept the unit back for free. This company lacks principles and prey on families looking for vacation joy, only to leave them in a state of financial ruin.

Massanutten Resort and Great Eastern have shown a total lack of compassion regarding my request to return a timeshare I can no longer maintain. Due to crushing family medical struggles, this timeshare and its associated costs have us drowning.
Despite our transparency regarding this extreme medical hardship and the fact that we have no remaining resources to cover fees, Great Eastern and Massanutten Resort have repeatedly declined to terminate our ownership.
Every response from their representative, Kelly Long, feels like an automated, generic denial that ignores our documented reality. Their only proposed "solution" was a monthly payment plan for maintenance fees, a suggestion that completely ignores our total inability to keep up with the ownership obligations as a whole.
We have already attempted to sell the timeshare multiple times without success, proving that the ownership is a weight we can no longer carry. It is beyond frustrating to be treated like we do not exist by a company that refuses to offer any concrete help to a struggling family to resolve a contract that is no longer sustainable.
Dealing with this resort has been an immense burden, and they have shown no interest in fair dealing. I strongly recommend avoiding this resort at all costs.

I have been a Woodstone owner for twenty years and am completely disgusted by how Great Eastern Resorts treats their owners. Since my husband passed away, I have been pleading with this company to take back my deed because I am on a single income and can no longer afford the constant fee increases that happen every year.
Instead of offering any real assistance, they told me there is no person or program that can help me and they have basically stopped responding to my concerns entirely. The sales pitch was a total lie and now I am stuck with a week in February that is impossible to use or exchange for anything worthwhile. I have spent eighteen months yelling into a void while they act like they have complete control over my life, proving they are just money hungry and interested in trapping people for decades.
It is impossible to resell these units and I refuse to give this problem to another family just so they can suffer the same nightmare I have endured. These people are greedy and do not care about giving you a vacation, so please save yourself the stress and stay far away from this company.

As a retired Navy veteran and educator, I am absolutely disgusted by the blatant greed and predatory practices of Great Eastern Resort. We paid off our timeshare in full back in 2005, yet we are being held hostage in a never ending financial drain of maintenance fees that the resort increases unilaterally whenever they please.

Pissed!

We are current owners of this company, but we definitely do not want to be. That said, the resort seems to not care about our very valid reasons for such and still refuse to take any responsibility here. We are still hoping to see a different outcome and we will keep trying to get through to them, but just be aware before signing up that this is not an easy road if you find yourself unhappy with the things that they pressure you into believing.

Well we thought there was going to be some snow to go skiing but we was wrong .. we will wait til end of Jan.

The contracts was incorrect. When I wanted to cancel, nobody returned my phone calls (multiple phone calls).
When I sent certified mail with return receipt, nobody picked it up. When I finally spoke with the manager, Bonnie who said she is the one who process the cancellation, she told me to call the post office myself because she did not received the package. The tracking number shows the package was arrived and waiting for pickup 1 week ago. No help.
No responsibility what so ever. What kind of the business is it?S

Terrible place

Why would you keep a place open like this during a pandemic? You are putting all your workers and visitors in danger. Since your salesmen smell like alcohol and weeds and driving them round I guess you all don't have problems putting peoples in danger.

Nothing great about Great Eastern Resorts

I was called by Great Eastern Resorts to tell me my entry at the Edison NJ Home Shows was selected and I was eligible to visit Massanutten and receive a free stay and a voucher for a return visit within 6 months. The phone agent told my wife and myself that we would have access to everyting.
We looked online and saw there was a waterpark and based on the call we were lead to believe that it was included. I wish to say we were mislead. We could get a discount to the water park but tickets were not included. Also we were told that at check in that we would be given gift cards of the amount of the deposit $75.00 and an additional $125.
At check in we were told that we will get the gift card after we take the tour. Regarding the tour. We have not been on it yet but it is scheduled for 8AM Tomorrow. When we spoke to the person on the phone we were told we could take the tour whatever time we wanted but at check in they notifed us that 8am was the only time for the tour.
We told them that my wife has mobility issues and we need a handicapped room with a hand held shower. Like everything else promised this did not occur.
To get into the "hotel" there were two steps to go up. Once inside the bathroom did not have a hand held shower and my wife and I had to sleep in two separate beds because the beds were too small for two people.
Total ripoff with slick salesmen that lie & sceme

Salesmen told me he would be responsible for financing a points timeshare through a Bank of American officer within 30 days of signing timeshare papers and stupidly (emotionally grieving my husband’s death the prior 60 Days) I signed the documents. He dragged me on through iMessages for about 45 Days and then didn’t answer any of my calls or messages.
I sent a letter to GERC’s Massanutten Finance Office but they did nothing. They stopped sending me notifications after they got the letter from me; now a year letter they are offering me a settlement ($1,275.00) but I’ve paid out to them over $2,500 and haVE NEVER STAY in any of there resorts as an owner!!! I’ll go to heaven peeing these crooks and at this point my credit is jacked for life. At 69 yrs.

Gave away our unit
- - Arrived Friday in rain; our unit was given away due to a fax issue.
- - We were moved to a smaller unit; cot wasn't provided; ants and AC failed.
We have enjoyed many trips to massanutten. When we showed up on a Friday night in the pouring rain with guests .....they had given our unit away.
They said we did not fax back a letter to reconfirm we wanted our week. When we had tried to fax and it did not go through we called and they said oh don't worry about it. Also what company doesn't use email or text in this day and age. They gave us a unit for the night smaller then ours and one person had to sleep on the floor since they never sent the cot.
We got switched again the next day again to a two bedroom and were told if we didn't like it maybe someone should drive home! WHAT!!! No one ever contacted us again. We had ants,the air conditioner went out.
I'm sending every person I can find a letter including Matthis Smith. I'm pissed!

- - Fees and payments fell behind; you can't use it unless current.
I reluctantly purchased a timeshare because my then husband and kids fell in love with it. He kept it when we divorced when the payments and maintance fees got behind it fell in my lap.
Its a stay once every two year deal. I been paying more than the monthly payments we agreed to trying to catch up for 3 years now. Cant use it if its not current lost 2 stays so far on their payment arrangement.
Dont make the mistake of ever buying a timeshare. Vacation when and where you want not this.....
